$4.50 for a shot of espresso, and then +$1 for tip = $5.50.
Crazy, right? Growing up, I think my first job paid about $6 an hour.
But when you can get a fun conversation with your barista, if you can make their day by asking about something in their life, and also spend 30-45 minutes playing with Banagrams with your 2.5 year old…that $5.50 seems relatively cheap.
Coffee has never been about the coffee. It’s about the people.
At least, that’s the perspective I take to justify five trips in seven days to our local shop. 🙂
